Bratislava, 1846: Rabbi Daniel Prosstiz, the Rosh Beis Din of Preßburg passed away.
R’ Daniel held this prestigious position for 50 years, spanning the lifetime of the Chassam Sofer in Preßburg [Bratislava]. He was very active at the Chasam Sofer’s side, helping him run the community.
R’ Daniel, passed away at 87 years of age. On his gravestone, it was engraved: “A godly man, the glory of the generation, the crown of the sages, the sublime righteous…”
