Lublin, 1767: Rabbi Heschel Ashkenazi passed away.

Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel was appointed as rav Lublin, on the fourth day of Chol Hamoed Sukkos 1752. His seat was previously occupied by his father, Rabbi Zalman Ashkenazi, who bore the name of his own father Rabbi Zalman Ashkenazi, of Pomarin [Pomoryany, Ukraine].  R Zalman of Pomarin’s mother was Nechama Neitshi, daughter of Miriam, daughter of the Chacham Tzvi. Rebetzin Miriam’s Father-in-law was R’ Saul of Cracow [see Kankan issue 8 – “The Prince A Rav – Saul III”].
