Jerusalem, 3597 AM: The Kohanim finished fixing, refurbishing and cleaning the Beis HaMikdash.Β

Especially the Mizbeach, which had to be demolished and reconstructed anew.

The old stones of the Mizbeach weren’t disposed of, they were stored in the Lishkas haChosamos – Bureau of Stamps. This room was situated in the Lishkas Beis haMokeid, which was on the northern side of the Azarah.

One of the reasons Chanukah was set to be 8 days, rather than 7 days, like the Chanukah of the Mishkan and in the First Beis HaMikdash, was because it took 8 days to renovate the Beis Hamikdash.
