Babylon 3339 AM: The news of the destruction of the 1st Beis HaMikdash reached Babylon.
Yechezkel haNavi was exiled eleven years earlier, with king Yehoyachin, to Babylon, thus, he did not witness the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash. Rabbi Shimon tells us that this day, 5 Teves, was established as a fast day, and this is the fast mentioned in Zechariah, as ‘Tzom Ha’asiri’–the fast of the tenth month.
Chazal tells us that the messenger who brought the news to Yechezkel was the angel, Michael.
