Preßburg, 1846: The Rosh Beis Din, Rabbi Daniel Prossnitz, passed away.
R’ Daniel held this prestigious position of being the Rosh Beis Din of Preßburg [Bratislava], for 50 years, spanning the lifetime of the Chassam Sofer in Pressburg, and was very active at his side, helping him run the community.
R’ Daniel, passed away at 87 years of age. On his gravestone, it was engraved: “A godly man, the glory of the generation, the crown of the sages, the sublime righteous…”
