Kepno, 1824: Rabbi Yisrael Yonah Landau passed away.

R’ Yisrael Yonah adopted his mother’s maiden name Landau. His family’s original surname was Ettinger, being a grandson of R’ Leib Ettinger, the rav of Lemberg. He authored several sefarim, Ein HaBedolach, Zemiras HYisrael, Shiras Yisrael and Aleh DeYonah. He served as rav in the communities Lyuboml, Ukraine and Kempen [today: Kępno] Poland.
