Cracow 1782: HaKadosh R’ Yisrael Shalom Shachna’s desecrated body was brought to burial.
In the Pinkas Hazkaros Neshamos of Cracow, on E-l Malei Rachamim is dedicated HaKadosh, R’ Yisrael Shalom Shachna the son of Yechiel Ichel, who was horrendously killed Al Kedushas HaShem.
We read: “They burned him with the torture of fire at his shrieking of Shema Yisrael — may the Angels from above, the Angels of peace, cry bitterly. On the thirteenth day of the month of Adar, on the holy Sabbath… harsh and bitter torture was done to the son of Yechiel Ichel. They hung him on a tree in great disgrace on the Sabbath day, with dishonor, plunder and destruction. They dishonored and scorned him. His holy body was hanging on a tree for several days that cannot be told to the world.”
