Frankfurt, 1641: The Maharam Schiff passed away.

Rabbi Meyer HaCohen Schiff, author of the commentary Maharam Schiff, was born in 1605 to his parents, the dayan, Rabbi Yacov Schiff, and Rebbitzen Gütlin née Günzburg.

In 1625 R’ Meyer was appointed as rav in the nearby town Fulda, and 10 years thereafter in Schmalkalden. From there he was asked to take over the post as rav in Prague, but, alas, he didn’t make it. On Motzaei Shabbos,  21st of Adar he passed away suddenly and he was brought to his final rest, in Kever Avos in Frankfurt am Main.
