Frankfurt on the Main, 1641: The Maharam Schiff was laid to rest.

Rabbi Meyer HaCohen Schiff, author of the commentary Maharam Schiff, was born in the year 1605 to his parents, the Dayan, Rabbi Yacov Shciff, and Rebbitzen Gütlin née Günzburg.

In 1625 R’ Meyer was appointed as rav in the nearby town Fulda. 10 years thereafter in Schmalkalden. From there he was asked to take over the post as rav in Prague, but, alas, he didn’t make it. On the 20th of Adar he passed away suddenly and he was brought to his final resting place, in Kever Avos in Frankfurt.
