Cracow, 1832: R’ Shlomo Zalman Chaim Halberstamm was born.

R’ Shlomo Zalman Chaim Halberstamm, known by the acronym ‘SHaZCHaH’, was a member of the famous Rabbinic Halberstam family. He was a collector of Judaica manuscripts, and many printed sefarim of the Rishonim we have, is thanks to him. 

Shazchah was born to his father Rabbi Yitzchak Halberstam, author of the sefer Siach Yitzchak, son of Rabbi Chaim Halberstam of Brody, son of Rabbi Mordecha Halberstam of Komarno, son of Rabbi Simcha of Dessau, son of Rabbi Hirsch Charif of Halberstadt. The Sanzer dynasty descends from R’ Simcha’s brother Rabbi Hirtz of Dubno.
