As we know Daniel is famous for his spectacular dreams. But this one wasnβt a dream, it was rather a chazon-vision whilst awake. In this vision, he foresaw all the wars between the Greek Empires, through the time when the Greeks ruled the civilized world. According to Rashi, these include the Syrian Greek wars with the Hasmoneans.
