Dubno, 1752: A ban on making weddings on Friday–Erev Shabbos was issued.

Although today, it’s nearly unheard of, this was not the case pre-WWII, when the most convenient time to make a wedding was on Friday. But as we learn, making a Friday wedding had its halachic issues, and the community of Dubno, Ukraine, decided to put an end to it. So much so, that we find, they also prohibited any annulment of this prohibition, in the future.

We find that after Dubno’s decision, other communities followed suit.
