Posen, 1591: A big fire broke out in town.

In this fire all 75 Jewish homes of Posen [Poznań, Poland] were destroyed, 80 sifrei Torah were burned, and 15 people lost their lives. Nearly the whole fortune of the Jewish community was lost to this fire. Rabbi Manis Chayos, from Prague, eventually, the rav of Vilna, and Rabbi Akiva Günzburg wrote special kinos for this devastating disaster.
