Today, 429 years ago, in the year 1591, a fire broke out in Poznan.
In this fire 75 Jewish homes were destroyed, 70 sifrei torah were burned, and 15 people lost their lives. Nearly the whole fortune of the Jewish community was lost to this fire. Rabbi Manis Chayos and Rabbi Akiva Ginzburg wrote kinos for this devastating disaster.
