Jerusalem, 1267: Ramban approached the holy city, for the first time in his life.
Ramban, poetically mentions this visit in his letter.
When he arrived at the port of the city he tore his clothes. When he arrived at the place where our Beis Hamikdash had stood, he broke out in tears, and cried out loud: “Our holy and beautiful house, which was praised by our forefathers, was burned by fire, and all our desires were turned to ruin.” He then tore his clothes again, whilst saying Tehillim chapter 43.
