Tiktin, 1706: A fire broke out in town.

One of the members of the community of Tiktin [Tykocin, Poland], was a certain R’ Mordechai ben Nachman. His house was burnt down in the fire. Among the valuables, he had 4 promissory notes, which were already paid. Mordechai notified the local beis din about this. Therefore, Beis Din made three announcements in the shul, notifying everyone, that in case these notes survived the fire, and is found by anyone, they should know that these notes are void, and they should be torn up straight away, by the finder.
