Kozienice Cemetery
Kozienice, 1814: The Holy Maggid of Kozienice, passed away.
In 1812, a mere two years prior to his passing, at the age of 76, Rabbi Israel The Holy Maggid of Kozienice, married his last wife, Rebbetzin Mechla. She was the daughter of R’ Aaron. The Maggid is referred to in the record as, “Izrael Szapszanewicz, Magid & Widower.” For some odd reason, their marriage was recorded thrice, on 12 July (Sunday, 3 Av), 19 July (Sunday, 10 Av), and on 10 August (Monday, 2 Elul) 1812.
