Brody, 1760: The renowned Gaon, Rabbi Zalman Margalioth from Brody was born.
Rabbi Zalman was one of the leading poskim in his time, he authored many sefarim on many different topics. In fact, in the Halachic world, he is known as the Beis Ephraim, whilst to many, he is more commonly known as the author of Matei Ephraim.
In Brody, he opened a Banking House, and never took on any rabbinical posts.
