Cracow, 1646: The Shach started printing his sefer Sifsei Cohen.

Rabbi Shabsai Cohen, was famously known as the Shach, which is the acronym of his sefer, Sifsei Cohen.

His first sefer was on Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah.  To print his work he traveled to Cracow, and commissioned his wife’s relative, R’ Nachum Meisels, who owned a print house. They used a special font called Venetzia, which was a copy of the font used by the Venetian print houses.
