Rephidim 2447 AM: Our forefathers set out from Alush and encamped at Rephidim.

In Chumash Bemidbar we read: “They set out from Alush and encamped at Rephidim; it was there that the people had no water to drink.” Rabbi Yossi ben Tachlifa writes in his Seder Olam, that this was on the 22nd of Iyar.

Many things happened in Rephidim [Wadi Feiran, Sinai]: 1) the battle with Amalek, 2) their water supply ran dry, and the rock started to provide the water for the following forty years, and 3) they started to do teshuva in preparation for Kabalas HaTorah – Sinai was their next location.
