Today, 298 years ago, in the year 1722, Leib Nordon from London, wrote a letter to his acquaintance Rabbi Yaakov Emden, accusing him of drinking a Coffee in a Coffeehouse.

R’ Yaakov Emden obviously answered him back, that the coffee was 100% acceptable from a Halachic point of view, “Sisi Meiai – Rejoice, my innards!” R. Yakov Emden exclaimed on this very English coffee he had. 

[In those days, coffee was consumed with no added milk or sugar].
