Sanz 1876: The Sanzer Rav passed away.

Although he was a Chassidishe Rebbe – Rabbi Chaim Halberstam of Sanz [Nowy Sącz, Poland], author of the sefarim Divrei Chaim, was one of the leading Torah authorities in his generation – Like the Shoel Umeoishiv of Lemberg and Rabbi Shlomo Kluger from Brody, and many more.

Many years after the Sanzer Rav’s passing, the Brisker Rav, on one of his trips to the spa town Krynica, expressed himself: “One can see that the Sanzer Rav is still alive, wherever I go, I hear Chassidim speaking about the ‘Hayliger Roov Zichroyne LiVrooche’!
