Worms 1664: All Cohanim were banned from Shul.

It was on a Friday night, Shabbos Parshas HaChodesh, and Leib Honik died in the house known as “Shterin”. Since it was a terraced house, it touched the neighboring houses including the shul. The Cohanim could therefore not come to shul on that Shabbos. The rav, Rabbi Shimshon Bacharach called the parnass, R’ Anshel Oppenheim who lived in the house known as “Reesen”, and told him to call up seven Yisraelim for the aliyos, and not a Levi instead of the Cohen.
