R’ Shmuel was the eldest son of the famed Noda B’Yehuda. When he took up his father’s post, he was invited to visit Francis II, king of Bohemia [Prague being the capital of Bohemia].
The king opened the visit, by asking, “Are you as wise as your father was?”
“Much less than him.” He answered.
The king wasn’t impressed with this answer, and the visit was called to an end right there and then. The reason for this abrupt end was that he should have rather answered “My father was much wiser!” which increases his father’s respect.
