2nd Temple Era: Today is an ancient Yomtov.
Antiochus came to Jerusalem with the intention of destroying the city, and killing the Jews. Jews were afraid to roam the streets in the daytime, and were only able to do so at night. Because of some bad rumors, Antiochus left Jerusalem, and this day was established as a celebration.
