Shul in Třebíč

Altona 1776: Rabbi Yaakov Emden passed away.

Rabbi Yaakov was the famed son of the Chacham Tzvi. He was his fourth child, and first and eldest son.

In our article “The Cossack’s Sword” we bring the account of R’ Yacov, regarding his father’s parents, how witnesses verified, that his grandfather, his namesake, R’ Yaakov Sack, was murdered by the Cossacks, and based on that, his grandmother, Nechama was permitted to remarry. Not long thereafter, the murdered R Yaakov appeared in town.

BTW: Tomorrow is the Chacham Tzvi’s yahrzeit.
