Masa-Mechasia 499: Ravina – the Rosh Yeshiva of Sura, passed away.
Ravina is a shortened version of his title and name Rav Avina. He was the son of Rav Huna. Ravina lived amongst the last generation of the Amoraim, and he is credited with finalizing and closing Talmud Bavli.
