Pella, 3423 AM: Alexander the Macedonian was born.
Alexander was born to his mother Olympias, the fourth wife of King Phillip II of Macedon. Alexander was an illegitimate son, as he was born from an ex-marital relationship, whilst Phillip was away at war.
In Tzemach David we read that he was born on 4 Iyar, at sunrise, which coincided with a frightening star appearing in the sky, accompanied by earthquakes, thunder, and lighting. Macedon was struck with unrecorded icy weather.
Alexander also died on his 32nd birthday. Today is his 2326th yahrzeit.
