TIsha Be’Av in a German Jew

Judea, 3411 AM: “Shall I weep and practice abstinence in the fifth month, as I have been doing all these years?”

Some Jews have returned from the Babylonian exile to our Holy Land and started rebuilding the second Beis Hamikdash. They were wondering, if there still is any point in continuing to fast on Tisha Be’Av, in memory of the destruction of the first Beis HaMikdash?

On this day, the word of Hashem came to Zechariah, in which Hashem said, “It’s not about eating and drinking or refraining from it, what is important, is to listen and obey My word given through the early prophets when Jerusalem and the people were still in tranquility…
