Lublin, 1618: The Council of the Four Lands, gave their approbation to R’ Shabsai Sofer’s siddur.
R’ Shabsai Sofer was from Przemyśl, He presented his siddur to the Rabbis of the Council of the Four Lands. The Rabbis were very impressed with his work, and they ordered that each and every community must buy one of his siddurim, and that his siddur should be used as the prime source for correcting the nusach of any other siddur.
Of the Rabbis for this council, we know the Maharsha, the Bach and the Tevuas Schorr I.
