Today, 258 years ago, in the year 1762, the Chassam Sofer was born in Frankfurt.

Rabbi Moses Schreiber, aka Sofer, known as the Chassam Sofer, had a tradition. He’d complete Chumash with his pupils, on this day – 7 Tishri – since it was his birthday. In addition to this, he gave each one of them pocket money, to buy themselves some milky danishes.
