The Battle of Pákozd (or Battle of Sukoró) was a battle in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848, fought on the 29 September 1848 in the Pákozd – Sukoró – Pátka triangle.

Lemberg, 1862: An affidavit was written to release the agunah of Elias Hirsch.

Shlomo Zev Werbik from the town Yavoriv and Chanoch Moshe from Mostyska, appeared before the beis din in Lwow (Lemberg), to testify that Elias Hirsch had died in combat on 3 August 1849.

Hirsch was a soldier in the Austrian Army, which fought in the battle of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. Hirsch was killed from shrapnel, in Ács, Komárom, Hungary.

Their testimony was given many years later since they initially wanted payment for it. In the end, they decided to give it freely in beis din, so Hirsch’s wife can remarry:
