Suchowola, 1854: Rabbi Avraham Berish Flahm fell into a dangerous water well and was miraculously saved.
We are grateful to R’ Avraham Berish since he printed the famous meshalim from the Maggid of Dubno [Ukraine]. He mentions the miracle in his preface to the sefer Ohel Yakov: “It was erev Shabbos, 17 Kislev of the year [5]615. I was underway in a hotel, in Suchowola [Poland], close to Horodna [Grodna/Haradnaja, Belarus]. I fell into a water well. In the last few years, they started to install a pump, but they didn’t finish it, and a piece of wood was stuck in the well. I fell on the point of this wood before I fell into the water… I called to the G-d of my forefathers… The one who guards all my bones. ‘Please save me, and I’ll sacrifice all my time for Hashem…’ How dear was His kindness, as with His mercy he saved me.”
