“Holy Sand” – jewish Cemetery in Worms

Worms, 1197: The Rokeach, and his family were attacked by a wild mob.

In a note, Rabbi Eleazar of Germeiza [Worms, Rhineland], author of Rokeach. wrote in graphic details, how his family was brutally murdered by a wild mob. He writes that on the evening of 5 Kislev, whilst giving a shiur on Chumash, parashas Vayeshev, a wild mob broke into his house. They wounded him, killed his wife Dolce, his son Yacov, his daughters Balat & Chana, and his teacher and pupils. He continues with praise to his wife, for her continued support towards his Torah learning.
