Posquières/Vauvert, Southern France

Posquières, 1198: Ravad passed away.

Ravad, is the acronym of his name, Rabbi Avraham Ben David. He is known for his objections on the Rambam. The Rambam expressed himself on these objections, “Since ever, no person has defeated me, except for a certain craftsman!” referring to the Ravad.

The Ravad passed away in Posquières [Today: Vauvert, Southern France] on erev Shabbos Chanukah, and ‘Kohanim’ prepared his grave!
