10,000 holy souls were killed by the merciless cossacks, women, and children, sick and old. No one was spared by their bloody hands. Between all of these Kedoshim, was the holy tzaddik, known as Reb Shimshon, the Maggid from Ostropoliia [Ostropil, Ukraine]. He, with many other Jews, fled to Polonne [Polonnoye] to find shelter.
